Structure, the history, charm of Tokushima Castle

Tokushima Castle is a castle (Flatland Mountain Castle) which was in current Tokushimacho, Tokushima-shi, Ehime of Shikoku of Japan.

Mr.Kouno ruled over this ground from the Kamakura era. In 1385 in the Muromachi era, Yoriyuki Hosokawa defeat the power of the Southern Court who was in the Shikoku region, built a Castle in Shiroyama at the current Castle ground.
In 1585, Iemasa Hachisuka who had meritorious service in Toyotomi Hideyoshi's conquest of Shikoku entered the country of Awa 186,000 koku. The beginning of entry he entered a fortress in Ichinomiya Castle which was in the western part of Tokushima-shi, but he had just entered the country and built this large-scale Castle in the current ground and was completed in 1586. Afterward It becomes the castle of Tokushima feudal clan Hachisuka 250,000 koku through the Edo era and reaches the Meiji Restoration. It was told that the Castle Tower at the time of the foundation was demolished from 1615 through 1624, and the third-floor Oar was set up in Higashi Ninomaru in the halfway up a mountain of the mountain soon in substitution for a Castle Tower. It becomes the abandoned castle by " Abandoned Castle Law " promulgated in 1873.
