Hagi Castle is a castle (Flatland Mountain Castle) which was in current Hagi-shi, Yamaguchi of Japan.

As for Terumoto Mori, it has been done Diminishing Territory to two countries of Suou country and the Nagato country by having taken the commander-in-chief of the West Military for the Battle of Sekigahara.
In 1604, Terumoto built this castle as a substitute for Hiroshima Castle.
Terumoto considered three places of Hagi, Yamaguchi, Hofu as candidate site for construction of a castle, but it determined in Higi by the instructions of the Shogunate finally.
It is said that there was an intention to shut up Mori that this is representative of Tozama daimyo (An outside lord) in the remoteness place of San-in in the Shogunate.
It is a Castle built in a time of peace, but comprised of Hira Shiro and Yama Shiro at the foot of the Shizuki Mountain and at the mountaintop. And placed a stronghold in Yama Shiro and became poised to have been conscious of the wartime.
In 1863, Takachika Mori of the feudal lord moved a feudal clan agency to the Yamaguchi Castle without license in the Shogunate, and the Hagi Castle finished the duty as the feudal clan agency.
This Castle was the base of the Choshu feudal clan during more than 250 years , but oars and other buildings were destroyed by an Abandoned Castle Law promulgated in 1874, and, only the Stone Wall and the Moat (Mizubori) exists now.
