Structure, the history, charm of Kitanosyou Castle

Kitanosyou Castle is a castle (Flatland Castle) which was in current Fukui-shi, Fukui of Japan.

After having let Asakura ruin in 1573 , Nobunaga Oda was going to let you appointed Nagatoshi Katsurada post of sub-military commissioner and govern Echizen country, but Nagatoshi Katsurada was killed in 1575 by "Ikko-ikki".
It was Katsuie Shibata of the Nobunaga chief vassal to have subjugated this "Ikko-ikki" and was given Echizen country Kitanosyou by the achievement and started the construction of the Castle.
A Castle of this Katsuie is Kitanosyou Castle which became the base of the northern country rule of Oda. It is said to have been a huge castle having nine levels of Castle Towers.
When Nobunaga died by Honnoji-Temple Incident in 1582, Hideyoshi Hashiba who defeated Mitsuhide Akechi was opposed to Katsuie, and both clashed over a fight of the Shizugatake in 1583.
Katsuie was destroyed for a war and stayed in Kitanosyou Castle and he set a castle on fire and killed myself with Oichinokata of the wife.
It is said that most of Kitanosyou Castle were lost then, but is not apparent what kind of process it became the abandoned castle by.
Hideyasu Yuuki who became the first feudal lord of the Fukui feudal clan (Kitanosyou feudal clan) in 1601 of the Battle of Sekigahara next year built the new Castle (Fukui Castle) in the ruins of Kitanosyou Castle.
Therefore the remains of an ancient structure of Kitanosyou Castle in Katsuie age do not exist.
In addition, in 1993 , excavation for the sixth is carried out, and the stone thought to be the Stone Wall excavated it from the precincts of Honmaru trace of Kitanosyou Castle and the Shibata Shinto shrine where it has been said to, but cannot identify the correct position of the Castle either.
