Structure, the history, charm of Edo Castle
Edo Castle is a castle (Flatland Mountain Castle) which was in current Chiyoda, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo of Japan.

The samurai who put a base on the ground of Edo first is Shigetsugu Edo.
Edo's residence during the late Heian period to the early Kamakura period is said to have been placed on the plateau around Honmaru and Ninomaru later.
After Edo's was ruined, Dokan Ota who was a vassal of Ogigayatsu Uesugi constructed the Edo Castle at the eastern end of the Kojimachi plateau in 1457.
It rebuilt as a strong position for Kanto control.
After Dokan was killed by Sadamasa Uesugi, Edo Castle became the place that Uesugi owned.
Then in 1524, became under the control of Ujitsuna Hojo who broke Uesugi .
In 1590, Hojo was ruined by the Odawara subjugation of Hideyoshi Toyotomi, and instead of it, Ieyasu Tokugawa entered the Kanto region from Sunpu country (current Shizuoka Prefecture) and based on this Edo Castle.
After Ieyasu Tokugawa entered in the Edo Castle, it became the Castle of the Tokugawas and became the administrative office of the Shogunate after the start of the Edo Shogunate.
Edo Castle which was a Castle of Tokugawa shogunate government was surrendered in 1868.
The Emperor Meiji was performed a royal visit of from Kyoto, and was renamed to Tokyo Castle , and "the Imperial Palace" was put.
Afterwards it was renamed to " Kou-jo" in 1869, " Kyuu-jo" in 1888 , "Koukyo" in 1948 .
Western citadel of the Castle Ote-mon Gate of Edo Castle became the front gate of the Imperial Palace, and the bridge which hung over the Imperial Palace front gate was repaired in 1887 by the stone bridge with two arches made of the granite.
Fukiage Garden becomes the Imperial Palace, and the former Edo Castle Nisinomaru becomes the site of the palace.
Trace of Honmaru, Ninomaru, Sannomaru, which is a center of old Edo Castle in the east side are opened to the public as a Imperial Palace East Garden .
Koukiyogaien of the southeastern side and Kitanomaru-koen Park of the north side are always left open, and, in those outside, it is generally on the available land.
